Ministries

Caring and helping to meet the needs of others is a vital part of our life together in West Church. Along with the ongoing work of the Ministerial Team and Church Elders, you will find listed below some of the specific pastoral services available.

If you could benefit from any of these services or know someone else who might, please contact a member of the Ministerial Team.

  • Home visitation group;
  • Pastoral care in time of illness;
  • Visitation in time of personal and family difficulties;
  • Church service recordings;
  • Transport to and from Church;
  • Lone parents and families;
  • Students and others away from home;
  • Pastoral care ministry team.

Home Groups

To help focus our Christian lives with prayer, praise and Bible study we have Home Bible Study Groups. They meet in an informal setting to share the Christian faith and to provide the pastoral support that we all need. It's a 'safe place to grow'.

Mid Week

A fortnightly opportunity to come together in a more formal setting, when we open up the scriptures in a relevant and lively way.

Centurions

Centurions is a men’s group which meets fortnightly at 7.30 pm on Thursday evening in the Lounge. It is an opportunity for younger men in the congregation to come together (over tea/coffee) for fellowship, worship, prayer and bible study; sharing thoughts, ideas and opinions on the topics raised, in a very relaxed atmosphere.

Communion

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated on the following dates: First Sunday in January at 11.00 am; Third Sunday in February at 6.30 pm; Maundy Thursday at 7.30 pm; Second Sunday in May at 11.00 am; Last Sunday in July at 11.00 am; Third Sunday in September at 6.30 pm; First Sunday in November at 11.00 am.

Worship Ministry

The Church Choir meets on a Wednesday night from 8:00 pm — 9:45 pm from September until April in the Minor Hall. New members are always welcome. It is not necessary to read music as the parts are taught individually.

Hamper Ministry

Each month, we distribute food hampers to those in our community who are in need of our support. To help with this important ministry, please bring along an extra non-perishible grocery item or two from the list to church with you. The collection will take place on the third Sunday of every month, although the trolleys will remain in place if you would like to bring groceries at any time.

Hope Cafe

We warmly invite you to our Hope Cafe church, which runs several times each year. It is a unique opportunity to invite those within our community to experience a fresh expression of Church. The intention is to create a relaxed natural and helpful environment to explore the Christian faith and invite people into the wider church community. We will tackle topical issues over an eight week period. Hope Cafe is open to everyone and creche facilities and kids zone will be available.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer Ministry on a Sunday is available for those who have prayer needs for themselves or someone they know or love. Members of the Prayer Ministry team have been trained to undertake this ministry. Members of the team pray in groups of two with one member leading and another member present for support. The Prayer Ministry team do not offer counselling or advice but rather the Prayer Ministry team members will pray and seek God's divine input for the situation(s) or person(s) prayed for.
It respects strict confidentiality and also the integrity of the individual. The Church encourages people to partake of this and make it an effective and important part of our Church witness. The team will delight in praying with them and hope more people will take up this opportunity. The team promotes Jesus to be the centre of this ministry and our team encourages individuals to remain after church for ministry.
Time for Prayer takes the form of an informal group which gathers on Sundays 1/2 hour before each service in the Prayer Room
