West Church Ballymena
Prayer Triplets

What others have said about prayer :

History belongs to the intercessors.” Walter Wink

Prayer is the secret weapon of the Kingdom of God. It is like a missile, which can be fired towards any spot on earth, travel undetected at the speed of thought and hit its target every time…Satan has no defence against this weapon-he does not have an anti-prayer missile… People we can not reach in any other way can be reached by way of the throne of grace.” Ronald Dunn

You can borrow the sticks but it will take the power of God to light the fire .” Stormie Omartian

General points:

  • There is power in praying together.
  • The greatest need of the world is prayer.
  • The greatest resource of the Church is prayer.
  • Through prayer we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to break Satan’s strongholds, whether in individuals, in groups, in churches or in nations.
  • Prayer is a spiritual weapon and if we accept the command to pray (1 Thess 5 v7) things will happen!

Guidelines for prayer triplets

  • Join with 2 people, preferably of the same sex. Have a leader.
  • Ask God to lead you in choice.
  • If possible share with one other person who is not used to praying in a group or praying out loud.
  • Initially your commitment will be to pray together for 30 minutes, either once a week or fortnightly. Choose a quiet place with no distractions.
  • When you meet, start and end promptly. Be informal and try to keep chit chat to a minimum.
  • Gossip about prayer requests will destroy the spirit of prayer. Avoid this both during and after your meeting.
  • As you pray together-pray short, simple and specific prayers.
  • Remember confidentiality.
  • Focus on reach— In prayer reach up in worship, reach into the group and encourage growth and reach out to the community and beyond.
  • Specific components in prayer triplets:
  • Celebrate God’s love. Start with worship to Him.
  • Pray for each other and be accountable.
  • Have prayer targets.
  • Pray for your minister, the Church, the community and have a global concern too.
